Conference Venue: The Abbey of Frauenwoerth in Chiemsee
The conference will take place in the abbey Frauenwoerth of the Benedictines. The women’s abbey has a history of more than a thousand years and is situated on the "Fraueninsel" - Dame's Isle - in the Chiemsee, embedded in a beautiful landscape of the Bavarian Alps. The Chiemsee is the largest lake in Bavaria. The island covers ca. 30 acres and can be walked around in an easy 20 minutes. With 50 houses and approx. 222 inhabitants it is densly inhabited, the area of the abbey covers about 1/3 of the whole island.

How to get there:
General Note:
Please take into consideration when planning your trip that the last boat from Prien ( trainstation) to Fraueninsel leaves at 18:30 hours (on the 24th), and at 19:30 hours as of the 25th of May. If you arrive later, please note that you have to get to Gstadt (a 20 min. Taxiride). Last boat for Fraueninsel leaving on May 24th at 19:50 hours, on May 25th at 21:00 hours.
By Air: Airport Munich [München-F.-J.-Strauß];
Take the
subway (S8) to Munich East-Station [München Ost-Bahnhof], (every 20 min. in the afternoon); change to train to [Prien am Chiemsee], approx. 90 min. Groups of up to 5 using the regional train [Regionalbahn] can get a cheaper ticket [Bayern-Ticket]; bus, taxi, Chiemsee-train or a 20 minute walk to the port [Prien-Stock]; boat to Fraueninsel (boat-ride approx. 25-35 minutes). Total distance: approx. 130 km.
Return: if you have a flight leaving early in the morning you can try to get a room at the Hotel Henry in Erding (phone: +49-8122-909930, info@hotel-henry.de). They also offer shuttles to the airport Munich (approx. 15 min. ride)
By Air: Airport W.A.Mozart in Salzburg; take bus or taxi to Salzburg main train station; take train to Prien am Chiemsee Groups of up to 5 using the regional train [Regionalbahn] can get a cheaper ticket [Bayern-Ticket]; take bus, taxi or the Chiemsee-train or take a walk of 20 minutes to the port Prien-Stock; boat to Fraueninsel (boat-ride approx. 25-35 minutes). Total distance: approx. 70 km.
By Train: from Munich main station take a train heading for Salzburg – trains run every hour – get off at "Prien am Chiemsee"; take a bus, taxi or Chiemsee-train to port Prien-Stock or take a walk of 20 minutes; take boat to Fraueninsel (boat-ride approx. 25-35 minutes).
By Car: Highway A8 Munich-Salzburg, exit Bernau, continue via Prien in the direction of Rimsting/Breitbrunn to Gstadt; park and take boat (boat-ride approx. 10 minutes)
Most Mainland Hotels are very close to the port, with the exception of Bayer. Hof Prien (taxi or 1.5 km walk); Yachthotel Prien (taxi or 10 min. walk); Landgasthof Schalchenhof Gstadt (800m walk)
Important notice:
The last boat from the port Prien-Stock to the island leaves at 7:30 PM, from Gstadt at 9 PM. It would be possible to hire an "Island-Taxi" - a small boat with driver - under +49-170-205 3542. Relatively expensive (approx. 100 Euro), takes up to about 8 people.

For late arrivals: taxi (at the station, or call Taxi-Standl, Prien 0171/9365775 or 08051/2348) for a taxi to Gstadt (ca. 20 min.).
Last boats to Fraueninsel from Gstadt:
on May 24: 19:50 hrs
on May 25 : 21:00 hrs (sommer-schedule)
For later arrivals: there is a boat called Island taxi („Insel-Taxi“) from Gstadt (call. 0170/2053542; quite expensive).
